The River of Herbs encourages and enables members of the public to grow herbs in disused spaces to promote pollination, education and self-healing in the City of Amsterdam and beyond. Design& Co were invited to create a visual identity for the inspiring charity.
The earthy identity features a colour palette inspired by natural dyes and typography inspired by 17th Century Dutch botanist Johannes Snippendaal's medicinal herb catalogue. The publication was produced at a time when medicinal herbs were valued as essential to the city's healthcare, and details 796 plants featured in Amsterdam's Botanical Gardens.
The rubber stamp can be used over and over to produce seed packets to be sold or swapped at events or used as business cards. The design features icons to be checked for best growing conditions.
