In 2014, co-founding director Fran Hope and I worked closely to develop a bold new strategy and brand identity for our design studio. We were inspired by Carl Kleiner’s ‘Golden Ratio & Friends‘ series of still-life photographs exploring the golden ratio using coloured paper. These images reflected aspects of our different personalities and informed a strong new colour palette. Using contemporary sans-serif typeface ‘Radikal’ to reflect the clarity and open character of our practice, we designed a simple logo and 3D perspective icon.
We continued this playful identity, running ‘branding surgeries’ at business events, providing consultations dressed in lab coats and using our 3D paper shapes to demonstrate the value of tactile and tangible objects as part of a cohesive brand. Our colourful display won us gold for best stand at the Festival for Female Entrepreneurs in 2014.
